Dandekarverse
Chair of Bioinformatics · Universität Würzburg

A universe of tools for living systems. — from a single base pair to the planetary biosphere.

Forty years of software, web servers and databases from the Dandekar group and collaborators — gathered, organised and arranged across the scales of biology so you can find what you actually need.

01 · Scope

Why a verse, not a list?

The original computing page is a long alphabetical column. Useful — but flat. Here, every tool sits on a scale of biological organisation, so you can find your way by the question you have, not by remembering an acronym.
02 · Catalog

All tools, organised by scale.

Search, filter by scientific scale, or switch to the orbital view to see the whole verse at once.
03 · Pathways

Curated routes through the verse.

Common research workflows — chain several tools together to go from raw data to insight.
04 · About

The maker and the lab.

Built at the Chair of Bioinformatics, Biocenter, University of Würzburg, led by Prof. Thomas Dandekar — with contributions from many group members and collaborators worldwide.
Origin

The lab has produced bioinformatics software since the late 1990s, ranging from RNA structure prediction and metabolic flux analysis to systems biology of platelets and infection.

Method

Most tools are open source, citeable, and continue to be maintained at bioapps.biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de or the newer bioinfo-wuerz.de.

Reach

Citations span infection biology, drug discovery, plant science, neurobiology, climate and systemic risk research — reflecting bioinformatics that consciously crosses scales.
